National Institutes of Health (NIH)

ISES and ISEE have sought sponsorship from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States for their scientific conferences. The NIH collects race and ethnicity data to enhance the participation of minority groups in health-related sciences. Your participation would be helpful and is entirely OPTIONAL.

Carbon offset

In an effort to mitigate the climate impact of holding this event, we invite delegates to purchase at least a half tonne of carbon offsets during their registration. One-half tonne is valued at $10. Most of the carbon footprint for the event will be from air travel. We encourage you to offset more if your flight is international or longer than 3400 KM (estimated average Canadian roundtrip flight—roughly the distance from Winnipeg to Ottawa and back).

For more information on the projects you’ll be supporting, click here. These projects provide tangible carbon reductions made possible because of the funds from carbon offsets. We’re proud to be taking steps to mitigate the conference footprint and appreciate your support in doing so! Thank you.

Help us reach our base goal of offsetting at least 100 tonnes. 100 tonnes would be the equivalent taking 21 cars off the road for a year.

Travel Awards

The ISES-ISEE 2018 Joint Annual Meeting will be inclusive to delegates from around the world. There are two categories of travel awards for attendees currently residing in developing countries and diverse/under-represented attendees residing in developed countries. Classification of developing/developed countries can be found on the FAQ page of the conference website. For the purposes of this award application, all students and new researchers from a developed country are considered an under-represented group.

Awards will be issued as reimbursements, not provided in advance. Selection criteria include quality of abstract, diversity, need, and contributions to exposure science or environmental epidemiology. Preference will be given to students and new researchers. Click here to download the travel awards application.

Please upload your travel award application along with your submitted abstract(s).

Support Students and Delegates from Developing Countries

Our goal is to host an inclusive, representative meeting that is welcoming to students and attendees from developing countries.  Please help us to achieve this goal by contributing to the ISES-ISEE 2018 student and developing countries fund.  You can choose whether your contribution will be used to fund travel awards, registration, or tickets to the Conference Dinner or Women’s Networking Event, and whether it will be used to support students or delegates from developing countries.

Thank you for helping us to support inclusivity in 2018!
